ABSTRACT

This study provides an integrated overview of how generative artificial intelligence is studied within entrepreneurship research. Using a hybrid bibliometric–thematic review that combines science mapping with thematic analysis informed by the bibliometric structures, we identify four interlinked themes showing GenAI as a cognitive partner that extends entrepreneurial thinking, an operational partner that accelerates experimentation, a learning scaffold that reshapes competence development, and a socio-technical force that transforms entrepreneurial environments. Although research activity in this domain is accelerating, insights remain fragmented across cognitive, behavioural, organisational and macro-level areas. This review consolidates these dispersed contributions and clarifies the conceptual foundations of the GenAI–entrepreneurship nexus while identifying gaps for future theory development and responsible GenAI adoption.
