Tourism Word of Mouth: A Bibliometric Analysis

ABSTRACT

Word of mouth (WOM) is considered as one of the most influential factors that affect consumer behavior in the tourism and hospitality industry. This has resulted in a large volume of WOM studies, and there is a need for a comprehensive overview of these studies. This study reviews the existing literature on WOM in the tourism and hospitality industry by applying a bibliometric co-citation analysis and a co-word analysis. The most important papers, authors, journals, center of expertise, underlying research streams, their keywords, and their applied theories are revealed. Future research areas are suggested by proposing new research questions.
