ABSTRACT

When selling products in the secondary market, how much of the original retail price can sellers recoup? Across five real-world datasets and four pre-registered laboratory studies, we find higher-priced goods retain less value than lower-priced goods in the secondary market. Margin perceptions appear to explain this effect.
